Tropical Mas Association
We come from humble beginnings, that have now prepared us to encourage members of the community to participate in tailored projects, events and activities.
Our community engagement programmes are designed to promote various art forms at a local and national professional level.
Tropical Mas aim is to provide facilitators, experts and high-level art facilities to promote high standards of art traditional, abstract, performance and modern art forms to name a few at our events and workshops.
How we came to be…
Tropical Mas Association was formed and later established in 2015 primarily to promote the advancement of the Arts, Culture and Heritage within the communities of the Royal Borough of Greenwich and in due course the rest of England and Wales.
Tropical Mas Association aims to achieve several projects that will bring children, young people, parents, elderly people and families together.
Our vision and objectives are…
Tropical Mas Association’s vision is to provide a means of bringing members of the community together from diverse cultures and backgrounds and to promote their differences in a way that brings them closer together.
Tropical Mas Association aims to engage with community members through the provision of various activities and events that are focused on history, culture, diversity, street art, performing arts, creative arts, dance, drama, education, career opportunity, social activities and community engagement.
Tropical Mas Association will promote social inclusion throughout the community by creating a platform for individuals and groups who may otherwise be socially excluded. For the purposes of our wedsite ‘socially excluded’ means to be excluded from society, or parts of society, as a result of one of more of the following factors: unemployment; financial hardship; youth or old age; ill health (physical or mental); substance abuse or dependency including alcohol and drugs; discrimination on the grounds of sex, race, disability, ethnic origin, religion, belief, creed, sexual orientation or gender re-assignment; poor educational or skills attainment; relationship and family breakdown; poor housing standards; crime
Tropical Mas Association will raise its awareness to the general public, which will in turn help to minimise prejudice, challenges and discrimination faced by the above outlined social minority groups and encourage cohesion in communities.
The benefits of Tropical Mas Association for the community include stronger collaboration amongst groups and encourages community cohesion. This will open up employment opportunities for all and decrease crime rates as well as alleviate the pressure from public funds.
Working with young people
Tropical Mas Association will promote social inclusion by working with different groups in Royal Borough of Greenwich including young people between the ages of 16 to 30 years of age who are excluded from society, or parts of society, as a result of one or more of the above social inclusion factors.
Tropical Mas Association provides opportunities for all through its voluntary programme.
